Apparently Piven and Cloward are being demonized by the Right as being the intellectual authors of the Obama administration's policies. (Would that it were true! Obama is a moderate Republican in his policies.)
But the caterwauling on the Right has led one writer to suggest a possible way to bring about single-payer health care. You can read the article to learn the details with it's possibilities and pitfalls. But this may be a good time to start thinking of how we in Omaha could contribute to a coordinated national movement to enroll people in Medicaid.
How could we do it? How would we spread the word? The Right would argue that we were helping bankrupt the system (but if the system is only there if it is not to be used or not to be used fully, what good is it?)
Other people may come up with other pros and cons.
